“Ballistix Tracer memory features a black PCB, black integrated heat spreaders, and one or two rows of eight “chasing” red and green LEDs atop the module, circulating in a random pattern based on memory utilization. A custom-designed circuit relays bus activity to the LEDs, allowing them to accurately reflect usage of each memory module. In addition, eight blue ground effects LEDs emit a constant glow near the pins

[katamari]
This, on the other hand is junk. Sluggish right off the bat from the beginning of the first level, and gets worse as the Katamari gets bigger. The controls are weird as well - unlike Super Monkey Ball where the tilting actually affects gravity, here tilting left/right turns left and right. Slowly.
Again, a gratuitous DS comparison - just about everything on the DS that tries to do ‘real’ 3D stinks. The screen is too small and the controls too limited for it. The iPhone gets away with more, but I still much prefer a well-executed bit of 2D to this ‘depth’ thing everyone is doing.

[touch]
It’s a tech demo in terms of length and content. But this tiny thing is a beautifully execyuted side-scrolling shooter, and certainly the closest thing to Rez I’ve seen on the iPhone so far. It’s also a really nice use of the touch screen - sweep a finger over the enemies to target, release to fire - whereas most apps I see are tending to treat the touch as merely a way of faking traditional controls. No! Look at Zelda on the DS for how touch should work. It’s also free. Go play it.

Just as I was thinking that timezones couldn’t get any more complicated, this sort of thing happens.

Via Simon Willison, it’s a python library that lets you mess around with XML documents in python, using language similar to that in jQuery. I’m intrigued that, just as JSON starts to get serious traction in APIs, my XML tools are getting good enough to almost keep parity in terms of convenience.
(later - I can’t get it to build. Curse these computer things)

Third part apps on the G1 don’t have to respect the ‘don’t use data roaming’ setting if they don’t want to, and can incur scary roaming fees. If only there were a security sandbox that stopped apps doing unexpected things that weren’t anticipated by the user. Except then it would be an iPhone, and people would still complain. Presumably the ability to run up enormous phone bills is a Freedom.

Google Bookmarks API Guide

[google]
Google bookmarks doesn’t really have an API. Which is annoying. It doesn’t even seem to obey any of the many many Google authentication systems, so to use it I have to screen-scrape the login dialog.
However, it will serve all the bookmarks as a mozilla bookmarks html file, so I can write a script that pulls the bookmarks down to the local machine and puts them somewhere predicable, so I can use Launchbar to access them quickly. And I get a backup.
All in all, it’s not a bad solution to the ‘I want to put my bookmarks in the cloud’ problem I’ve been trying to solve recently.
